Dear John, What a week - It feels a little like a train that I can't get off of right now. Great Lent has begun, Lydia was sick this morning, I am stressing over this test and you have sermon to give on Saturday morning. Can life get anymore complicated? I am sure that it can. So through all of my tears over my children, you not being home, and fears about my Stats class - you still listened to me - even when I was not rational about everything. Thank you for your time, I am very grateful that you gave me a little of it. I was able to get through all of Chapter 3 and will be moving onto making a study guide for Chapter 4. I hope that you have a good rest of the day and evening. I will see you tonight. Drive safely.

  1. My dear Alex,

Do you know how much strength you have? How much everything else in your life has prepared you for challenges like these. God has truly blessed you. He has given you an 11-year-old boy with even greater stubbornness than ourselves (yes, it is possible) and after the last hair on our head is either gray or pulled out, we are left with a better understanding of a person searching for their identity. We try so hard to teach him how to cope with not having everything he wants, showing him the greater things like love, family, and faith -- so that when we ourselves find hardship and cannot have what we want, we can grudgingly look to our own lessons. God gives us a wafty, reckless, free-spirit princess of a 7-year-old girl who doesn't mind the chocolate cake all over her face, is devastated with the prospect of anything not being done correctly, and is incapable of going to bed without a good book. And then there's the little guy who is just the happiest soul on earth no matter how full his diaper is. What lessons we can learn from these children! Especially with the tasks set before you this week. Evyn's ability to take anything broken and just "make it work" even with missing pieces; Lydia's diligence; Joshua's joy in the face of adversity.

Will you do perfect on this exam? Probably not. Great? Maybe. Good enough? Absolutely. If you have faith instead of fear. What is good enough? God knows better than you or I. Put your trust in him; work *with* him through this material; he will not let you fail.

    -John
